Who are the young people who choose the religious vocation of the friends of Christ today?
They are young people deeply convinced that Jesus Christ gives meaning to life. With all the ardor of their youth, they open up to the misery of others and want to give them back hope and a taste for believing in life. Like all other young people, they have a taste for success. They are dynamic and they want to “perform” in their career: that of service to others.
It is through the vocation ministry team that the welcome is made at the Friends of Christ. It is a stage of making contact, of information, of mutual taming, and of first discernment.
The candidate wishing to go further is invited to live his first community experience. This will be an opportunity for him to take his first steps in the life of prayer, community life, and in the life of work.
The candidate manifesting a serious intention to join the Friends of Christ undertakes the novitiate. He will then follow sessions aimed at perfecting his knowledge of the community. It is a stage of in-depth formation, of human, affective and spiritual growth. This is the stage of discernment in view of the temporary vows pronounced at the end of the novitiate.
For future brothers and priests, the student is the deepening stage of knowledge of religious life before perpetual commitment.
For the candidate who chooses the vocation of brother, it is the stage of professional or technical formation, and of the first experience of work in the service of the Community.
For the candidate for the priesthood, it is the stage of formation in theology, baccalaureate and master's degree, interspersed with the pastoral internship. Once this step is completed, the candidate is ordained deacon, and shortly thereafter, priest.
Lord, You left your mark deep in my heart like an immense taste of light and peace, tenderness and joy, welcome and gift.
A trace like a light of hope in a world that struggles with happiness.
A trace like an inner voice that says to me:
“If you want... come, I need you to be present in the world.
Lord, Send me your Spirit so that it arouses in me this madness of love that enables us to follow Christ in the footsteps of our founder, Bishop Kabango. May your Spirit stimulate my audacity so that, strong in the talents you have given me, I can build a better world to live in with my brothers and sisters. May your Spirit enable me to risk my life with you, Amen.
